Two get 20-yr jail for minor’s rape

The court of Additional Sessions Judge, Fatehgarh Sahib, has sentenced Rahul Kumar and Dupinder Singh, both residents of Jatpura mohalla, Sirhind, to 20-year imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 in a rape case, on Saturday.

The hearings in the case were held by a fast-track court and the accused were convicted within four months. Hardeep Singh Kahlon, District Attorney, Legal, said during the hearing of the case, the victim turned hostile and refused to identify the accused. The court convicted the accused and awarded him 20-year imprisonment.

As per the case summary, a 17-year-old girl in her statement to the police claimed that she was in need of money and her friend Rahul Kumar offered to help her and called her to Jyoti Swarup lights point on July 18. She said when she reached there, Rahul along with his friend Dupinder arrived there. They took her to a house where both raped her. Later, they left her near the bus stop.
