Muktsar, November 3

A speeding BMW car allegedly crushed to death three youths and injured one, all waiters, near Buttar Shrinh village on the Muktsar-Bathinda road last night. The car occupants, however, managed to escape after disposing of the registration number plates.

The deceased and injured were returning from Abohar after working in a wedding function. Locals said the victims were pushing a motorcycle as it was not having fuel.

“The car, bearing registration number plates of Chandigarh, was moving at a fast pace and dragged the victims for nearly 100 m. Later, it entered the fields and stopped,” claimed some locals, who gathered at the spot.

The victims were identified as Ranjit Singh, Gurwinder Singh of Kothe Kothe Chhapdiwale village and Jaswinder Singh of Bhallaiana village. The injured, Lovepreet Singh, of Rori Kapura village in Faridkot district is recuperating at the Muktsar civil hospital.

ASI Pala Singh, investigating officer, Kotbhai police station, said, “We are trying to identify the accused and the car probably belongs to Bathinda district.” He said it primarily appears that the car was moving at a fast pace which led to the mishap amid a smoggy night.
