The district police have registered FIRs against 28 farmers in the district who were found burning stubble and imposed a total fine of Rs 92,500 on them. Raji P Srivastava, Principal Secretary, Department of Social Security and Women and Child Development, who has been appointed as the district incharge to stop stubble-burning, presided over a meeting of the district officials to put in place stubble management. Amrit Kaur Gill, DC, urged farmers to use advanced machinery for stubble management provided by the state government.
