At 63, social activist claims 15th PG degree

Abohar, October 8

Surinder Chhabra (63), a former councillor, had claimed a 15th postgraduate (PG) degree in police administration from Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University in Kota, recently. He is also president of a Hanumangarh-based NGO, Help Life Society.

He drawed inspiration from Anil Kumar Yadav of Gangtok, who received his 19th PG degree in business law from NLSIU, Bengaluru, two years ago.

Chhabra had to abandon studies due to some challenging family problems in 1972. Regular counselling and inspiration from spouse Asha kindled new hopes in him to resume studies in 1987. Thereafter, there was no stopping him. From Ajmer, Bikaner and Kota-based universities, he did his postgraduation in social science, public administration, political science, history, philosophy, Hindi, Rajasthani, English, Punjabi, gandhi and peace studies, Sanskrit, economics, education and commerce. In the past two decades, he has also claimed a LLB degree and a PG diploma in labour laws (PGDLL). — OC
