Sangrur borewell rescue op tardy, says Sukhbir

Sangrur borewell rescue op tardy, says Sukhbir

Chandigarh, June 10

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today held Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh responsible for the tardy and unprofessional rescue operation undertaken by his government to bring out two-year-old Fatehveer from a borewell at Bhagwanpura village in Sangrur. He said the results would have been different had the CM acted speedily and called experts right at the beginning of the rescue operation.

In a statement here, the SAD president said the child and his family had been failed by the Chief Minister, who did not give any express orders for a special operation to rescue Fatehveer and instead left it to the district administration and volunteers to rescue the boy. “My heart goes outto the affected family. The government failed to carry out a professional rescue operation, which resulted in loss of precious time. This has endangered Fatehveer’s life and filled us all with anguish and despair,” he said.

Hisar DC offers help

Hisar: Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Meena on Monday talked to his Sangrur counterpart to provide inputs about effective operations to rescue the toddler stuck in the borewell.

Meena said he informed the Sangrur DC that they had used horizontal directional drilling machine in Balsamand village during the rescue operation of a child from a borewell in March. “This is used for trenchless cable drilling. I suggested them to use this machine. I asked the ADC to coordinate with the Sangrur administration and provide the machine if they require it.” — TNS
