BJP’s Gurdaspur candidate Sunny Deol today held a roadshow here in favour of party candidate Hardeep Singh Puri. The event was originally planned to cover a distanceof around 2 km from Bhandari Bridge to Jallianwala Bagh, but it was curtailed after covering half a km.

Deol stood on a truck alongside Puri, BJP state chief Shwait Malik, senior leader Tarun Chugh, Delhi candidate and singer Hans Raj Hans and SAD urban president Amarjit Singh Tikka.

Flower petals were showered on his cavalcade by supporters. While an enthusiastic crowd vied for a glimpse of the actor and tried to click photos, Deol threw his fists in the air and flashed the victory sign. Hundreds of vehicles also lined up along the elevated road to witness the roadshow. Many youths even attempted to climb on the truck to take a selfie with the actor, but they were stopped by the police.

Though Deol did not give any speech, he obliged supporters with his famous “dhai kilo ka hath” dialogue on the loudspeaker, while a song “Main nikla gaddi le ke raste me sadak par ik mor aaya” from his movie “Gadar” was being played on the loop.

Malik said, “Deol had to go by air to join another rally in Bathinda and the permission for his plane to take off was till 4 pm. Since the roadshow here proceeded at a snail’s pace due to huge rush, we cut it short. Puri too left early as he had to attend three rallies in Majitha and two in Ajnala with Bikram Majithia.”
