Will complain against DGP to EC in priest case: Khaira

Bathinda: Punjabi Ekta Party (PEP) president Sukhpal Singh Khaira, referring to the Khanna police raid on Father Anthony’s house in Jalandhar in which nearly Rs 7 crore went missing, blamed DGP Dinkar Gupta for the conspiracy.  He said on March 27, the DGP had transferred three cops to Khanna and later they conducted the raid without informing anyone. Khaira said he would lodge a complaint with the Election Commission. TNS

CEO seeks info on illegal mining in Ropar

Chandigarh: State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) S Karuna Raju on Monday passed a “speaking order”, seeking details of illegal mining in Ropar from the office of the secretary (mining). The communication comes after an unsatisfactory answer that came from the department on a complaint by RTI activist Dinesh Chadha. “The main issue in the complaint was black money being collected by goons of political parties,” he said. Fatehgarh Sahib: Senior SAD leader Bikram Majithia on Monday claimed that Rahul Gandhi was “no match to PM Narendra Modi and apprehending defeat in Amethi, he filed papers from Wayanad in Kerla also”. Sangrur: To intensify their campaign against the Congress for “ignoring” Mazhabi Sikhs and Balmikis in ticket distribution, leaders of both the communities have called a state-level meeting here on Tuesday to announce their future course of action. “We have called a meeting in Sangrur to take a call on the matter,” said Darshan Singh Kangra, state president of the Dalit Welfare Sanghthan, Punjab.
