Ludhiana, April 5

Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) president and Atam Nagar MLA Simarjit Singh Bains is Punjab Democratic Alliance’s (PDA) candidate for Ludhiana parliamentary constituency seat. LIP chairman Balwinder Singh Bains, MLA from Ludhiana South, in the presence of a number of LIP supporters outside their office in the Kot Mangal Singh area, announced the name of his younger brother Simarjit as party’s candidate from Ludhiana.

The LIP, along with the Punjab Ekta Party (PEP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Nawan Punjab Party (led by Dr Dharamvira Gandhi) , Communist Party of India and Revolutionary Marxits Party of India are part of the PDA.

Simarjit said, “The Lok Insaaf Party is an ideology based on truthfulness and honesty. Our fight is against the dishonest. We have to eliminate corruption, drugs and all mafias from the state.”

Slamming the Congress candidate, he said, “MP Ravneet Singh Bittu has done nothing in the last five years. I visited various areas of the Ludhiana constituency and nobody could tell me where the office of the Congress MP is located.”

Meanwhile, MLA from Ludhiana South Balwinder Singh Bains said the LIP would announce its candidate for Amritsar parliamentary constituency in the next two days. Notably, Simarjit Singh Bains had successfully contested the Assembly election in 2012 when he became MLA for the first time. He had then formed theLok Insaaf Party. Before the last Assembly elections, Bains brothers’ LIP had tied up with the Aam Aadmi Party. He became MLA from Atam Nagar for the second time in 2017. However, the LIP broke alliance with AAP over its convener Arvind Kejriwal’s apology to SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia in March 2018. The SAD and AAP are yet to announce their candidates.
