Man gets life term for raping minor

Sangrur: A local court on Friday sentenced a 61-year-old man to rigorous imprisonment (RI) for life till death for raping a five-year-old girl. The victim’s mother, a labourer, alleged that on September 3, when she returned home from fields around 4 pm, she found her daughter missing. When she reached at her sister’s house in search for her daughter, she saw that her sister’s father-in-law Pala Singh was allegedly raping the girl. She raised an alarm and neighbours caught Singh, who tried to flee, and handed him over to the police, the victim’s mother claimed. TNS
