Kartarpur, November 9

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan today indicated talks between India and Pakistan can be initiated, provided the Indian Government lifts “curfew” from Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Kartarpur corridor in Narowal district of Pakistan’s Punjab, Khan said things in J&K had gone beyond territorial issue between the two countries and that the human rights of people were being violated due to a “curfew” imposed in the state since August. Revoking the “curfew” would at least allow the countries to think about a dialogue, he noted.

The Pakistan PM said a leader was always known for  a quality of bringing people together and not dividing them. A good leader and person always talked about peace and humanity, he asserted.

The ceremony, which was attended by several dignitaries from India and Pakistan, saw a gathering of over 7,000 people. Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu turned out to be the man of the match with the Pakistan government and Sikh devotees lauding his initiative and commitment.

Joginder Kaur, a devotee who had come from Canada, said: “It shows a Sikh’s commitment and the fact that Pakistan is ready to take a lead to strengthen the relationship between the two nations. Now, it’s time for India to reciprocate.”

Imran reaches out

Today we are not only opening the border, but also our hearts for the Sikh community… Believe me, I had no idea of the importance this place holds; I found out a year ago Imran Khan, Pakistan PM
