Govt trashes reports of Kumar’s resignation

Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, September 7

Clearing the air over the speculations of Suresh Kumar, Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, resigning over his ongoing appointment case in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the government on Saturday claimed that reports of Kumar's resignation were incorrect.

Sources say the issue of Kumar's court case stands resolved following a meeting of the CM with Kumar.

Though CMO officials claimed no such meeting took place and said the CM went to attend the farewell of the outgoing Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Krishna Murari. Sources however claim that the Advocate General was taken on board when the matter was discussed between the two.

"The issue has been allowed blown out of proportion by vested interests," claim an official.

Earlier in the day case, Kumar had left an official WhatsApp group, which had further triggered rumours of his resignation.
