Rs 566 crore for Local Govt, Social Justice, NHM

On the directives of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, the Finance Department on Wednesday released Rs 566.7 crore to the Departments of Local Government, Social Justice and Empowerment and National Health Mission (NHM). Funds to the tune of Rs 218.37 crore has been released to the Local Government Department for disbursal of salary/pension to employees of various Urban Local Bodies, Rs 165 crore to Social Justice & Empowerment Department for disbursement of social security pensions, and Rs 136.8 crore as grant-in-aid for implementation of various programmes/schemes under the National Health Mission. Teacher recruitment results declared

The Education Department on Wednesday declared the results of direct recruitment of 375 centre head teachers and 1,558 head teachers. The recruitment to these posts was advertised by the Director General of School Education (DGSE), Punjab, on March 9. The examination was conducted on July 20 and 21. Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla said 4,543 applications were received for direct recruitment to the post of Centre Head Teacher and 7,314 for head teachers. TNS

‘Nanak Utsav’ at Dera Baba Nanak in Nov

Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Wednesday met higher officials of various departments to review the preparations with regard to the 550th Parkash Purb celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev. The minister decided to summon a meeting on August 9 at Dera Baba Nanak for inspecting the work being executed at the site of function, besides work related to Kartarpur corridor. Randhawa said during the first fortnight of November, Dera Baba Nanak Utsav would be held at Dera Baba Nanak. During the course of this "utsav", devotees would be made aware of the life and philosophy of Guru Nanak. TNS
