Four new ITIs to begin ops from current session

Four new Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) will start functioning from the current academic session at Maloud (Ludhiana), Adampur (Jalandhar), Singhpura (Ropar) and Manakpur Sharif (SAS Nagar).

Besides, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Skill University is being set up by the government at Chamkaur Sahib.

Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said the state government was making special efforts in technical education and skill development sector in order to provide jobs as well as self-employment avenues to the youth of Punjab. “Nearly Rs 100 crore are being spent on the modernisation of technical education infrastructure by the state,” said Channi while speaking on the occasion of handing over appointment letters to 52 newly recruited clerks.

He said a letter had been sent to the Subordinate Services Selection Board to make recruitments to the 89 posts of clerk, two steno typist and three driver in the technical education department.

He said Thapar University, Patiala was initiating the process to recruit 423 craft inspectors, nine senior assistants, 24 hostel superintendents, 17 storekeepers and one librarian in the department.
