Apparently fearing action by CM Capt Amarinder Singh if they do not support his close aide Kewal Singh Dhillon, who has got the ticket from Sangrur, “faction-ridden” district Congress leaders today put up a united face during Dhillon’s roadshow and launch of election campaign.

The roadshow started from Barnala and concluded at Sangrur city. Dhillon tried to downplay the differences when asked about the absence of Cabinet minister Vijay Inder Singla. “All differences are media creation. I do not have any differences with Singla. He could not come as he has been assigned duty in Kathua for CM’s rally tomorrow. All other leaders have joined my roadshow,” he said.

The Congress has announced ticket to Dhillon last week and there were many contenders for the ticket, including ex-CM Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and Jaswinder Dhiman, son of Amargarh MLA Surjit Dhiman. After the announcement of the ticket to Dhillon, Bhattal has not shown any resentment, but Jaswinder has been accusing the party of ignoring him.

Some senior party leaders told The Tribune that the CM had strongly conveyed to all district leaders to work unitedly or get ready to face action for indiscipline. “We are all like a family and sometimes problems crop up. But everything is settled now. I have spoken to Dhiman and there is no problem now,” Dhillon said.

“I am in Kathua to make arrangements for CM’s rally and people should not waste time in drawing baseless conclusions about any differences between me and Dhillon,” Singla said.
