Faridkot, March 15

After ending the continuous and comprehensive evaluation scheme (CCE) for the secondary-level examination, the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) has decided to issue a single document, combining the language of the marksheet and certificate from the 2019 Class X examinations.

In a circular issued to all CBSE-affiliated schools across the country, the board has conveyed to schools that earlier, a candidate who appeared in the Class X examinations under the CCE was issued grade sheet-cum-certificate of performance, indicating the grades obtained in the subjects under Scholastic Area-A, Scholastic Area-B and Co-Scholastic Areas. But now all candidates will be issued a marksheet-cum-certificate indicating the result status as pass/fail/compartment, the circular says.

Under the amended rules, a candidate who has appeared for the improvement of performance or for an additional subject, shall not be issued a combined marks statement-cum-certificate. Such a candidate shall be given only a marksheet-cum-certificate in that subject. For the change in subjects for Class X and XII, the CBSE has advanced the date from August 31 to July 15.

As per the circular, the CBSE chairman has the power to allow a change in subject(s) in Classes X and XII if such a request is made before July 15 and Rs 1,000 as processing fee shall be levied per subject on the candidate.

The CBSE has also decided to introduce yoga and early childhood education as an elective subject at the senior secondary level from this academic session.
